PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE

Ballz® QR Skewers

Model No. BU960220, BU960222, BU960219*

*(BU960219 also included with Coho XC Trailer No. BU935101)

Burley, take product quality and safety very seriously. Unfortunately, Burley has identified that the Ballz® QR Skewer may fail in use. Burley has received warranty reports that the axle portion of the Ballz QR Skewer has sheared when initially installed and/or during use with the Coho XC Cargo Trailer. If the Ballz QR Skewer fails while riding, the Coho XC Cargo Trailer could become partially separated from the bicycle leaving only one of two tow arms connected to the bicycle. This could cause instability of the trailer and the towing bicycle and pose a fall hazard for the bicycle rider.

Burley is working with the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) to recall the Ballz® QR Skewers shipped between August 2018 and June 2021. The Ballz QR Skewer is used to attach the Coho® XC Cargo Trailer to a bicycle. All users should immediately stop using the Ballz QR Skewer. Burley will provide a replacement skewer free of charge at a later date.

The skewers affected by this recall include all Ballz QR Skewers that were sold as individual components as well as Ballz QR Skewers that were included in the sale of the Coho XC Trailer (Model No. BU935101).

ONLY the Burley Ballz QR skewer is affected. Burley Ballz Thru Axles and Nutted Adapters are safe to use with the Coho XC cargo trailer.

Burley will replace the affected Ballz QR Skewer free of charge to its customers. Customers are directed to stop using their Ballz QR Skewers immediately and contact Burley to receive instructions on how to dispose of the skewer and how to receive a replacement skewer. Replacement Skewers will be available in September 2021.
